Date: 8/29/12 9:57 PM I am fascinated by this dress Marci Tilton Dress but am worried that I will look like a blimp in such a loose dress. Note: I am 5'2" and busty.
Has anyone in the plus size club made this dress or have an opinion of how it will look? |

Date: 8/30/12 0:12 AM Just got two pieces of fabric for this for two very different looks. But, can't get to it until the end of September.
I've seen at least two renditions buried in the deep recesses of the Marci Tilton site.
A MT Version
You'll definitely want to read the notes that are part of the above link. After looking them over I've decided that I will start with bargain fabric. I'll use that one for a going to the pool topper or a paint the house dress depending upon the outcome
I've seen it done with variations on the pockets and I think the pocket variations, along with fabric choices, will be the key to producing something intriguing as opposed to, well, something else. I also have to consider that I am forever catching open style pockets on my kitchen cabinet pulls.
I am in the busty plus club. I think this can be subtle like the black dress version. I think it can be made to have the same appearance as an open unstructured jacket over a shell (just longer) which is usually flattering. And I think it can be more playful in the mixed knits
For a more playful look, we might want to decide if the proportions of the center panel need to be brought in or out to achieve the most flattering distribution of the three panels across our 'abundance of assets'; left side panel, center panel and right side panel. It would be a matter of determining if we wanted the appearance of an insert or a center from panel.
I bring the distribution thing up because I've caught a few sideways views lately that have taught me that just a little variation in the placement of my princess seams can be very slimming or can bulk me up.

Date: 8/30/12 11:04 AM When I first saw this pattern I thought those pockets would be a mistake with my hips. After reading the reviews from Cocosloft and JillyBe I decided to try it. I think the strong contrast of JillyBe's fabric colors, and the closed pocket treatment make it work. I'm going to try it in a woven fabric. |

I feel the same - an unfortunate style....unless you are a statuesque person about 5"11".------ "Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible."
