I would go with the Horizon.

I am partial to the Janome too. I have a 6600P one model down from the Horizon. But that does not matter. I tried out the Sapphire 875. It is not that I thought the Sapphire was a bad machine; I just didn't like it. Have you gone to price and test drive both machines? Before buying the 6600, I went to every dealer I could get to and tried a bunch of machines before purchasing the 6600. You should try both and with every kind of material you want to sew on. What I like doesn't really matter-it is what you like. You will know which one you want-it will feel right to you. Happy shopping! It is so much fun to sm shop.

I've only had my Horizon for a couple of weeks... but I'm lovin' it.
I've put up two threads here about it... hope you see those.
I didn't try the Sapphire... but I tried the Designer Diamond Deluxe as a sewing machine - and I prefer the Horizon over that particular Viking.
You just have to play. (and have fun!)
One thing I love about the Horizon is the feed system and the dual feed gizmo ... take a good look at the way these machines advance the fabric. That's what sold me on the Janome.
If you look at the Love Fest thread - I just put up a post yesterday about doing 1/4 inch seams with pictures. Hope it can help you.
Just as everyone else has said... do what feels good for you. I really didn't start shopping looking at Janome.. and in fact, I was trying to find reasons to justify getting an Elna... and instead my path got me into the Horizon 7700.

Thankyou Ladies for your advice, the problem is that I live 3 hours from the nearest dealer. I am leaning towards then Janome Horizon as I feel it is stronger and won't bounce around when quilting with king size quilts but tomorrow I am off to Canberra (Aust.) and will go to the dealer who sells both Viking and Janome and test. Many thanks again and enjoy sewing

I had a chance to quilt on the Viking 875 and did not like it much at all. I found it finicky and unituitive. I took a class at the Vermont Quilt Festival last spring and that was the machine provided. If I had to choose, Janome would get my attention!
