I used to sew for a dance studio and I had 2 sergers and 2 sewing machines. If you don't have other machines I would use the 5K to buy several machines including a straight stich only semi professional, a serger and a machine that could handle ruffling and stretch fabrics. ------ My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 10, and I've been sewing ever since.

You'd still have plenty of money leftover after getting a serger to get a nice sewing machine. Do you need embroidery?
