Chiffon skirt sewing sideseams

Bit scary as I need the dress to fall with a full skirt so planned to use a gathered waist half circle - very scared of cutting out and sewing on the cross in chiffon anyone got any pointers?

I find that getting an a accurate cut is difficult as the fabric will shift and move. I use tissue paper on the cutting table and pin the fabric and pattern pieces to the tissue. I keep the pinned pieces attached to the tissue until I sew the pieces. You can see a photo here Cutting Fabric I have difficulty getting a nice stitch, so I spray starch the area of the stitch line only. This makes stitching much easier. Make sure to only starch were you are stitching. Good luck.

I have cans of spray starch that I purchased a few years ago and never used. Do you happen to know how long spray starch in a can stay okay for using - does the chemical consistency change after awhile. ------

KIt was cut on the bias. The instructions has the sewer use 1" strips of tissue paper (cut to the length of the pattern piece seam) pinned along the seam line when sewing the seam. You then pulled the tissue paper from the seam line when the seam was sewn. Doing this meant that the seam was stable during the sewing process.
