Pfaff 1475 seems stiff on start up

I have a Pfaff 1475 that has been my workhorse for several years. When I first turn it on, the handwheel seems very stiff and the motor seems to be straining. After it warms up, the problem seems to resolve. I'm thinking it's a lubrication issue that I can't easily get to. I get it cleaned once a year and the last tune up was in the spring. I would rather not spend a lot of $$ on a 20 year old computerized machine, so I was wondering if any Pfaff gurus have any comments.

Sounds like me. In my case, it's old age.

I don't know the mechanical Pfaffs so am otherwise of no help at all to you, sorry. But others will have good suggestions.

Most of all, I heart Woo (HimmyCat). Until we meet again, my beautiful little boy. I love you.

I would have your 1475 serviced. You would spend a lot more on any new machine with the features your 1475 has, and save it from the landfill in the bargain.

My suggestion would be to have it checked out before it gets worse.

Last year, after having my 1475 for 20 years, I decided to take it in and let it have its first ever annual checkup. LOL.

These are excellent models and deserve to be given great care. They purposely made them so that sewers can't get to the inside as damage could easily be done.

Good luck and let us know what the problem was, please.

Update: soon I will decide when I will begin procrastinating.
