Date: 9/8/12 1:58 AM How much are you generally willing to pay for a pattern? There is this pattern that I absolutely love but it's OOP. It's a little girl's special occasion dress pattern by Simplicity. It's Simplicity 8953. I searched high and low for it and managed to find some listings on ebay but it's 25 dollars all together with shipping.
Am I crazy for even considering buying it at that price? I know I could easily get twenty five patterns for that alone on a good sale day. |

Date: 9/8/12 2:46 AM Gee, here's one with very similar elements for $12. The seller has it in two size ranges, 3-6 and 5-8.

Date: 9/8/12 3:11 AM In-print patterns here in New Zealand go for not much less than that in shops so I don't think US$25 is excessive for a desirable OOP pattern in good condition, especially with shipping included. Of course it's all relative to what you are used to and what you can afford or think is worth paying!
I am very envious of people who can just go to a shop and buy new patterns for a dollar or two. It's not an option here, ever. |

Date: 9/8/12 5:22 AM I bought that one as well as one other that is similar. I just want what I can't have I suppose. |

Date: 9/8/12 7:06 AM If you love it enough to search for it, then I don't think that $25 is too much to pay for it. And if you can stand to part with it in a few years, you could probably sell it online and get your money back. ------ “Never try to teach a pig to sing; it wastes your time and it annoys the pig.” -Robert Heinlein and Ann's father. Date: 9/8/12 7:47 AM I have sent padded-enveloped mail at Book Rates to Holland and India at very reasonable rates, can be even cheaper than within the US.
Maybe one of us with PO knowledge can check here and stock you up at our dollar sales? Sometimes in our thrift stores patterns are 35 cents. We need an exchange of patterns for your neat fabrics like Japanese!

Date: 9/8/12 8:02 AM Here are some reviews on PR, one just a short time ago. Since you are not a paying member, I don't know if you can post on the "Shop Patterns and More" tab that you are looking for this pattern or can pull up the reviews and contact one of these members to see if they are willing to sell their pattern:

Date: 9/8/12 9:34 AM I am not willing to pay that much-of course some of those patterns were new when I young. That looks like an easy pattern to mimic.
Here is a new Simplicity pattern that is very similar simplicity 4764
I used a Simplicity pattern to make a flowergirl dress and the pattern fit well using her measurements. It was not this pattern but one very similar.
Sometimes though, a person just has to have what she wants so $25 might be worth it to get it out of your head (speaking from experience). |
