Muffet and I came across this topic in another thread... and we were hoping to revive a conversation about needle felting machines.
There's a Singer one out there at Joann's that goes on sale now and then.....
And we know Janome makes one....
So anybody around here been working with one? Please show and tell your work and share your experiences.....

On my radar someday: Babylock Serger, and some machine for travel.
My dearest wish is to have Bernina come out with a machine that doesn't give me a reason to *not* buy it.

Date: 9/9/12 8:06 PM I have one, but I have the Babylock model. I used it a lot when I first got it and made book covers for my sketch books. Have to pull the machine out of the closet and play with it again. ------ Kemish |

Date: 9/9/12 8:45 PM I have an attachment for my Bernina 830 that I've tried a few times. It works very well...just not enough hours in the day Also, I just learned that I can use regular polyester felt, not just expensive wool. It's amazing how much misinformation I was being given at my past dealer. Now I won't be afraid to experiment-- wool felt is so expensive. ------ "Look at the donut, not at the hole"

Date: 9/10/12 9:47 AM Oh Paula....
How cool!
The cookie cutter idea is a new one! I hadn't heard of that type of technique with these.
My fave is the bottom pic - the one done with the yarn squiggles.

For the jeans, I used the needle felting machine to create a texture on the denim - no other fibers were used.

Date: 9/11/12 10:58 AM I took a lesson from Isabella Hoffman at a local fabric store. I made a pillow and really fell in love with it. There is a you tube video with her and Nancy Zieman.
Here is the link:

I also used copic markers to color on the felt. Here are my pillows:

Date: 9/11/12 11:12 AM I find the machine to be really fun, but it requires planning to use it. I try to use mine at least once or twice a year. It almost requires a different creative mindset than "regular" sewing. ------ http://communingwithfabric.blogspot.com/ |
