Did anyone upgrade a Janome 11000 to 11000SE?
How much should that upgrade be?

I'm seeking opinions here, please!

I have a line on a Janome 11000 with the upgrade to 2.0...

How much will it set me back to get the physical upgrade to SE & the software update done, too?

It would be a nice machine to mess with - to see if I'm going to like doing the digitizing and embroidery - before I dive in with both feet and get a new machine in a few months (hopefully).

Does it come with the Software?

If I were you, I'd go to the Janome website, go to the tab "Learning Center" and just hold your cursor over it and a new menu box will open up, scroll down to Janome Forum. There are very, very knowledgeable women there who can answer any question you may have about any Janome machine, software, embroidery, etc. Good Luck.

By the way, I see you have on "your radar" a Janome 12,000. I bought one and I really do like it.

I'm soooooo lusting after that 12000!

Good for you!

How long have you had it?

Have you run into anything that you wanted to do that it couldn't?

(other than dishes and taking out the garbage!)

No, it does pretty much everything I want. I got it last November. The hoops are huges. I just ordered the quilting hoop 8 x 8 and it will arrive maybe by next week.

I really like the solid feel of it. It was between this and the Babylock/Brother.

On a side note. I can perfect place my needle over my design without the snowman, so that made me happy Have the Janome dealer show you how to do that.

When I went and looked at the Brother versus the Janome 12,000 I did not know which one I wanted because I really liked the Brother screen a lot better as it was larger and the snowman, the sales girl whispered to me not to get the Brother as they have so many return with problems, she said 1 out of 3.

I went and looked at the Babylock dealer and they wanted an extra $1000 for their Gold Warranty. Kind of worried me as I know Brother makes Babylock. So I really hesitated. Then just went for it and got the Janome.

The Janome does not have snowman, but like I said, I can still perfectly place my stitching. When I sit down to the Janome it just feels so solidly built, nothing cheap feeling about it.

But the Brother/Babylock owners seem pretty happy with their machines. I will say the 12,000 is quiter than most TOL machines I went to try out.

I bought the new Janome MBX software with the 12,000 and got a great deal together. I think Janome and Brother or maybe it was Babylock that I saw may be offering 3 years no financing. At least Janome is. Don't know how long it will last. After I have the machine for another year I will do a review, but I want to really use it a lot before I review it.

If I had to do it all over again, yes, I would buy the 12,000. I am very happy with it. On a side note, the software program is just awesome. Made by Wilcom, who are the professional embroidery folks. They also make the Bernina software. I hear Babylock software is good too, but never tried it.

Good Luck to you in your search. Shop dealer.

Hey Grandma52...

Thanks for chiming in!!!

So did you get the 8x8 yet?

I would love to be able to discuss this with you some more... any chance you can add me to your facebook so we could message there? My facebook is facebook.com/coloradoesty

The Babylock dealer here offered to throw in that Gold warranty and sell the Ellisimo Gold for about $7,000.

Can you give me a ballpark number that you found for the 12000 selling at? One dealer here wants $8,500. But another member on this board said that Janome had a booth at a Texas show about a month ago and they were selling the 12000 for $6,000.

Software-wise... I'm thinking I might go with Floriani. I've sat in on a few classes with them, and I do like how it works. Then there is that new Mac based one that just came out that I'm going to have to evaluate, too.

so many returns, 1 of every 3.
Unfortunately, this sounds like a dealer issue than the norm for these machines. I know a couple of ladies who use the machines for business and love them. In fact 1 had over 3.5 million stitches on her embroidery machine. If the dealer is better trained and more comfortable on the Janome 12000 than you will get better support on a model "they like." I've worked with both machines at classes and it's been a good experiance. Enjoy for 12000 it's a great machine!

Hi RipStitcher,
I am looking for a machine to replace my Singer Quantum XL6000. The 2 machines I am torn between are the Baby Lock Ellisimo Gold and the Janome Horizon MC12000. I have come across so many prices. Who sells the Ellisimo Gold for $7000?
If you're still in the market for the Janome, I can tell you where you can get it for $7000.
I would really appreciate your input.
Thanks
Martina
