Hello! I just received a sweaterknit fabric... I mostly bought it because 1) it's cotton 2) I love the color and 3) I really have wanted to try making something out of a sweaterknit.

But what to make? It's pretty lightweight but because it is cotton it feels like it could droop fairly easily. So it should be something on the shorter side, I think. I don't really like vests and I prefer long sleeves over short or 3/4 length but I would do a 3/4 length for something I really liked a lot.

And it shouldn't be anything too hard because its my first time sewing with this stuff and I haven't sewed in years so I am relearning as I go.

Anything come to mind that would be great for this fabric? It is a lovely light aqua blue (what I call dinner-mint blue, lol)

Thanks for any inspiration!

I made this cardigan out of a sweater knit...I didn't put buttons on it, so I added topstitching to the neck band...I made a little tank top out of the same fabric to wear underneath.

Oh I like that a lot! That should go very nicely with my fabric. I am going to get that pattern for sure!

What did you do for hemming the bottom and cuffs?

I have sort of been looking at V8756 but I am not sure if a light sweaterknit would drape properly in the front? Anyone have opinions on that perhaps?

When I made this one I didn't have a serger yet, so I used an over-edge stitch on the raw edges, then turned the hems under, and top stitched them down.
