Babylock/Brother embroidery machine prices Are these too high??
K9pal Member since 9/13/12 Posts: 3	Login to reply to this post Like this post Date: 9/13/12 11:49 AM I currently own a Brother SE400 and want to upgrade, definitely to 5X7 but would love to have 6X10 capability. I want to keep the PES format, so I've narrowed my choices to a Brother or Babylock. Local Brother dealer has quoted me $2,000 for the Innovis 1250d, and $3195 for the Innovis 1500d. Babylock dealer has quoted me $3500 for the Esante. All of these prices seem too high to me, based on the limited info I've run across on the net. What does everyone else think? Any advice? Thanks!!

I think your dealer's prices are a bit steep. I don't know much about the Baby Lock line.

I know the 1500 is up the line and has a few more things such as a bigger screen and more built in designs, but it lacks a proper USB port. It has to be connected directly to a computer and I didn't want to have to lug the machine downstairs to the computer area every time I wanted to upload a new design to it. I have the 1250D and I can add designs via a USB stick thingy. I take them off the computer and then bring the stick to the machine. I loved the designs that came with my machine (the Disney ones). They are a great sampling of cute images that I have used a lot for the little kids in my life. I don't miss having the larger size hoop of the 1500, except for maybe doing some In The Hoop type of projects. Oh, also, I won the 1250 in a drawing, so obviously it was a great price point for me!

However, I'm not sure where you live and area can make a difference, but not that much. I purchased the Babylock Esante for $2495 in May of 2012 and that seems to be the average....and believe me, I researched the heck out of it before buying. I traded it in a couple of months later for the Ellisimo. But those prices are ridiculous. The Babylock equivalent to the 1250d is the Ellure Plus I believe. I was quoted $1400, and that included tax. Someone once suggested printing out machine reviews and board messages that state how much someone paid and showing them to the dealer. The have plenty of wiggle room and should be able to come down. Having owned the Esante, I can say I didn't mind not having the USB port. My sewing room is also my office so my computer is in there. I just bought a really long usb cable for about $5 on Amazon.Com and whenever I needed to transfer a design, I just hooked it up. It makes me wonder if the dealer is including digitizing software in that purchase. I would ask them, and then ask for a price without software. I always suggest that one wait until they've used the machine for a while, and become familiar with to before they choose additional software.

I do use a laptop, but I have all my designs on a jump drive and that would be a big plus in my opinion. Not sure if I'd ever use the 6X10, but my friends all say to buy bigger than what you think you'll use I'm going to both dealers tomorrow and hope to negotiate a deal, but if not... I can wait!

The BL Ellure Plus was at the same price point at my dealer. I think they are charging WAY too much and I live in the Bay Area of California which is a pretty expensive place to live. I would definitely negotiate! I live in the Bay Area as well. I purchased my Baby Lock Ellure Plus from The Sewing Machine Shop in Walnut Creek...a good experience. My daughter purchased a machine from Dublin Sewing Center...a not so good experience. Wondering where you purchased your Brother machine, and how was your experience with the dealer?
