Just wondered if anyone paid the $7 for a Threads mag lately, or maybe a Sew News. Used to love Sew News back in the day(no PR then, of course). Do either of these mags have reliable and relevant info in them?

I've looked at both magazines at B&N several times but was not drawn to buy either of these issues - the current issues of the magazines did grab me this time. As far as the info in them, I've always known them to be reliable. So go for it.

I've been sewing for a very long time, and have seen a number of sewing mags come and go. Of them all, Threads is the only one that continues, even after a couple of decades (and a few bumps due to change of ownership), to show me new, interesting, or beautiful sewing. I love this magazine.

But if you're a beginner or your focus is utilitarian sewing or crafty things, I don't think you'd find it relevant.

I enjoy the Threads magazine. I rec'd it as a gift from my mother and look forward to reading it when it arrives but I do run out and buy the Vogue Pattern magazine when it comes out. I really like the section where they take a pattern, for example for pants, and make 3 outfits out of one pattern item. That inspires me.

I subscribe to Threads and Vogue Pattern magazines and I love them both. Lots of sewing and fashion news, interesting tips and techniques, and great resources. I've found many new websites for fabrics and notions from both mags.

Hi,
I also subscribe to Sew News and Threads and used to subscribe to Vogue Patterns. All 3 have been useful. I also like Sew Stylish which tends to focus on the less experienced sewist although it has provided me with info. that I have forgotten or never knew. One can never have too many sewing items. lol

I've never been a fan of Sew News, but I've been a Threads subscriber for years. There is always something new to learn in it and I've been sewing for more than 40 years.

I started getting Threads again, recently. It's inspiring in a lot of ways; however, I don't think I'll continue my subscription. A lot of the articles are above and beyond my sewing aspirations. I don't take the time to do all the beautiful embellishments and couture types of things that are often shown. I'm not saying there's anything bad about the magazine. I think it's good. It just seems like most articles are either below, or above my skill level. I'm somewhere in the middle. I'm just happy to make a plain, store-bought looking garment that takes half a day to make. Nothing fussy for me.

I love both. I especially like the addition of the "Pattern Play" series in Sew News. It's my fave article, and I look forward to it every issue. I feel Sew News has really gotten better the last year or so. Not every issue of Threads and Sew News really grabs my attention, but there is relevant information in every issue.
