Hello, I have purchased a pattern from the tessuti website for a cute simple A line dress that has no zip and slips on with no zip! However I would prefer to line it as the fabric I have chosen is see through and cannot seem to work it out? Would love any tips on how to do this easily and neatly?

Kind Regards

Zaneta

How is the waist treatment done on the skirt? If there is a waistband you can sew the lining into that. Or maybe consider making a completely separate slip that you can wear with other skirts as well?

If that is the Lily Linen dress, I am working on my version at the moment, in linen. My suggestion would be, after cutting out, to sew the fabric and lining together, that is holding them together when pinning and sewing. That way the seams will not show through the fabric. You can then do the bias strip for the neckline through the double fabric, same with the sleeves. Not sure about the pockets, you might have to try them just on the sheer fabric. I hope that makes sense.

Hi Renata, Thank you so much for your reply. I am making the Gabby A-Line. I see you what you mean, like an underlining? I have selected a floral cotton/linen fabric which has a white cream background. I guess this is why it is see through. I have a voile for the lining. If I underline it, instead of lining separately I am not sure if it will drape well? I am concerend it might sit a bit stiff.. but it has been a while since I have made anything. I feel like a beginner again..The lily dress sounds lovely. You know what I pictured for this pattern? I love the idea of making it up in a top and using a jersey fabric. I see this style in stores and it looks like a nice t shirt style too.

Thanks again for your help

Kind Regards

Zaneta
