Date: 9/21/12 11:24 PM I am, although I'm starting to despair of finding an affordable fabric! I've never made a coat, and I've decided it's time to start! |

Date: 9/22/12 11:01 AM Joann's has some all cotton fabrics that I would describe as coating flannels, like a slightly drapey medium weight. They look like wool and come in a variety of prints, mostly plaids. They had some houndstooths but my store didn't have enough of those prints so I'm trying a plaid. They're originally 9.99 but are currently 40% off. With my extra 15% off mailer, there were like 5.10 a yard ------ http://sweetnotions.blogspot.com/ |

Date: 9/22/12 11:34 AM Her pattern reminds me of this this one from McCalls that I just bought. Thanks for mentioning this. I'll follow along!
If you choose the flannels from Joanne, watch for the width that you're buying. Recently I bought some there that was only 30+ inches wide. Also mine tended to pill after the first washing...it was 100% cotton. I certainly didn't expect that. |

Date: 9/23/12 10:45 AM I have my pattern, now must look for fabric == lots of fabric. I really is an interesting design. My challenge will doing an fba. I am interested in the tricks for inside a coat that go beyond the pattern instructions. |

Date: 9/23/12 2:40 PM I've checked the flickr album. It appears that it may run big so it may minimize how much of a FBA you may have to do. In general, I have found Buttericks to be roomier in the bust.
