For boat upholstery, opinions please:

Non-walking foot
Singer 31-15
Singer 660A2

Walking foot
Power Pro Plus (defunct company?)

Too many cheap knock-offs and too many fly-by-night online sewing companies. Too much confusion.

I know the way to go is to just by a Sailrite, but the Sailrite guy scared me away from the eBayers, too.

At this point it's all moot. I had a long conversation with a guy who was selling a used LS-1 with the big monster wheel for $480 on eBay. I think it was a good buy and will suit my needs.

Oh, BTW, regarding those manufacturers who claim that their machine is identical to Sailrite and are made in the same Taiwan factory, only the castings are the same. The internals aren't. This was according to Matt at Sailrite.

Also, Matt cautioned me about buying off eBay because many of the Sailrite machines offered do not have everything that is supposed to come with the kit. Don't let the term "Authorized Dealer" lull you, either.

Sounds like Matt at Sailrite is doing a fine job for Sailrite...

A sewing machine is just a welder for textiles.
