Date: 9/25/12 2:54 PM Thank you peudane!
I love this blouse and while this blouse probably wouldn't suit me, I do think it's lovely. I also like this skirt. But the BEST thing, in my opinion is this dress, which I think might be the designer dress? Possibly?
In the plus section, there's a lot of shapeless boxy stuff again, but I LOVE this dress! -- Edited on 9/25/12 2:56 PM -- ------ http://sewingnovice.blogspot.co.uk/

Date: 9/25/12 6:39 PM ... now you say that, very possibly! I just assumed she was doing a typical Burda weirdo pose, but she could easily be pregnant. It's a shame if it's a maternity dress because I really like it.
ETA: On second thoughts, this is the line drawing. It doesn't LOOK like a maternity dress from the drawing? But I couldn't say.

-- Edited on 9/25/12 6:45 PM -- The line drawing definitely doesn't appear to be maternity. While I love the dress, if it can make a thin model appear pregnant, no telling how it would make me look with my belly .------ Machine Stable: Bernina 165, Elna Lotus TSP, Babylock Imagine, Babylock Coverstitch and my newest baby Janome 350E |

Date: 9/25/12 9:28 PM Must say to my eye that that looks like a maternity dress. Both on the model and in the line drawing. IMO. I bet there's a way to change it on the pattern, though. |

Date: 9/25/12 11:35 PM I have been pregnant enough times to know when someone is "showing"!

This has to be maternity. |

Date: 9/26/12 2:16 AM The next picture shows the vintage inspiration, and the model doesn't look pregnant.

Date: 9/26/12 3:05 AM The line drawings for Burda's maternity patterns always show some shadowing around the belly to signify that it's maternity wear. Example This line drawing doesn't have that, which leads me to believe that it's most definitely NOT a maternity pattern.
It's strange because, based on the line drawing, one would think that the vertical seaming would provide more shape than what we see in the photo. The vintage dress in the inspiration photo certainly shows a more fitted garment. I guess the fact that the original model was wearing heavy foundation garments (unlike the "modern" model) accounts for the difference.
I think this would probably not be a very good look for most women. It's unfortunate, because I really do like the line drawing.
