I am looking for a knit turtle neck pattern. I am not liking what I am finding in the stores regarding ready to wear clothing.

I shopped the "big" four online and found this very nice Vogue V8670 turtleneck. (I also find it intriguing because it has a "baseball jersey" styled top as well.)

However, I am looking for a more traditional, plain turtle neck knit that doesn't cling to the body. I also don't want the neck to "droop" like a cowl or a drape, and I like both styles where the neck either folds over for a double layer, or a single band collar turtleneck. I would like it to become a tried and true pattern.

Okay, so. As I was typing this, I looked on the Burda Style site and didn't see anything. (Although, I did see this cute empire waist shirt that I may get also. Talk about going in the opposite direction for the neckline! )

Would anyone know of a pattern company that would have a nice basic turtleneck pattern?

Thank you for your help.

Kwik Sew 2948 is a TNT for me, but I guess it is now out of print. You can probably find it on Etsy... It has a sleeveless turtleneck shell but the long sleeves from the cardigan work just fine with the shell pattern.

There is also this pattern, looks very similar but I haven't tried it

I've had good luck with Jalie 2805, which has a mock turtleneck and several other options. Because the pattern includes the entire size range, it's easy to blend lines as you trace to get the fit you need. The Jalie patterns I've used have really nice lines and have become my TNT for T's, cardis, and surplice tops.

There are 14 reviews of KS 3093 here at pr.

To read them, just type 3093 into the search box on the upper left of the screen.

It seems a very good pattern.

Thank you for the responses. The Jolie one looks interesting.

I think for right now the Kwik Sew 3093 is the exact thing I am looking for right now. It also appears to be, seriously, a "quick sew."

Awesome, thank you all so much for the suggestion! I missed that in my searches.

If you decide agaist the 3039, you might like the StyleArc Debra Zebra top.

Debra Zebra

I like it because there is less fabric in the neckline ad the height is adjustable...I didn't sew the neck down, so I can fold it where I like.

I have made both turtlenecks with each of these patterns and they are well drafted and stylish.NAYY

If you have a favorite t shirt pattern with a crew neck, you can use that for a turtleneck. You raise the neckline the amount of the finished ribbing, then add your turtleneck. When you make the turtleneck, add a little extra at the SA, then try it on (before sewing to shirt) and see if it's too tight, too loose or too high.
In the good old days of Stretch&Sew you used the same pattern for all the necklines, just raising or lowering them.
