Date: 10/4/12 12:11 PM I'm making some corduroy pants in a jeans style-tighter fitting. The pattern calls for a stretch corduroy. The cord I want to use, 24 wale, is not a stretch corduroy. Will it still work okay?
Do jeans patterns get altered a bit when designed for stretch fabrics, as opposed to non-stretch fabrics? |

Date: 10/4/12 10:16 PM I'm just guessing, but I think they must be altered somewhat. I'm sure not as much as knit patterns are though. Depending on the style you might be able to get away with it. Maybe you can look up pattern reviews and see if anyone tried to make it out of nonstretch corduroy already. ------

I'm guessing that it will be okay, as long as the fit is not too snug, which measuring the pattern pieces and comparing them to a pair of store bought non stretch jeans should help,right? |

Date: 10/5/12 4:54 AM If you check reviews here for the *extremely* popular Jalie stretch jeans pattern, many people have made it up in non stretch fabric, going up two sizes to do so. I don't know what pattern you are using, but the reviews may have the info you need.

Date: 10/5/12 8:19 AM I wish I could find a corduroy around here with a bit of stretch. All I can find in the local stores is 100% cotton. It wrinkles if you look at it
If the pattern calls for a bit of stretch, it's best to go that route. If you want to change to a non-stretch, as others have said, you will have to alter the size. |

Date: 10/5/12 8:34 AM If you are not using stretch fabric, you will have to give yourself more ease to replace the stretch. You could do a muslin to determine the size you will need to cut. |

Do you know if Jalie has a negative ease? From what I can tell, it seems that it does. I'm not sure the child Ottobre pattern does. I think that would be a key factor in sizing. |

If it's not a negative ease, then a non-stretch should be fine, as it will stretch out after an hour or so of wearing. But if it is drafted with negative ease, then I should add some ease in the seat. The only way of knowing may just to quickly sew up a muslin, but would have loved to avoid that. |

Date: 10/5/12 10:42 PM I tried the Ottobre Woman jeans in non stretch after using the stretch in a previous pair. You would need to go up one size at least. Mine were not comfortable & I never wore them. I am assuming child's sizing would be as consistent as womens. |
