Date: 10/4/12 2:14 PM I've been visiting my local Joanns and test driving their HV Topaz 20. They have a sale going on which brings the price to 1900 (although I've been looking at them for months and the sale has never ended), and they said they can give me $100 off the price if I buy their floor model.
I've read reviews about people talking with the dealer and possibly lowering the price or getting software thrown in. Is this true? Could I negotiate some software or an even lower price?
Also, do they accept trade-ins? Even a two year old basic singer? Looking to save money and every penny counts!

Date: 11/5/12 11:17 PM I realize this post is from last month, and you may have already made your purchase.
However, my thoughts on purchasing a machine at Joann's....
I bought my Huskylock 936 serger at Joann's. I had decided that's the machine I wanted, and was in the store... They ended up matching the price that the local Viking dealer offered, so the price was not better. And if I had to do it again, I would have bought from the dealer. Joann's never came through with the promised class on how to use the serger (going through staff change -- had to hire and train new person), so I ended up paying to take the class from the dealer. When I took the class, I found the people that worked at the dealership knew quite a bit about the machines, as opposed to those at Joann's. If I ever need service, I'll need to take it to the dealership, and will likely pay a bit more since I didn't purchase it there.
The bottom line is I only see disadvantages at purchasing through Joann's, unless you don't have a Viking dealership locally. ------ Beth |
