Date: 10/4/12 6:55 PM Just finished this pattern and when I cut a muslin, it was too big in the underarm area, so when I made the next one, using nice fabric, I made the underarm area too tight. I have a small amount of fabric that could be used, but don't know which way to go with it.
Thank you. |

Date: 10/4/12 7:42 PM Yes, but have never done one and from all info I can find, instructions seem to be confusing. But if that would be the only way to selvage this top, I would definitely try it. Have found article in Threads about adding a gusset, but if you have any further info, I would sure appreciate it.
Thank you. |

Date: 10/4/12 11:34 PM I feel like I recently saw a tutorial on how to make one. I will keep an eye open for it. I've only sewn them with a pattern before. |

Date: 10/5/12 2:09 AM I think you can make it work with a gusset, too.
I found this explanation, which is for knitwear, but will work. You have to unpick the side seam and sew the lower part of the diamond shaped gusset (which needs to be shorter than the one shown) to the side seam part, and the top part of the gusset goes on either side of the sleeve seam part (i.e. the widest part of the gusset should be just in the "corner" of the seam - where the armhole seam would be had there been one. If the gusset is too long, just cut off the rest.
Good luck ;-)

Date: 10/5/12 9:10 AM Thank you for the great explanation and for the site for additional info. I feel confident that I could do this without ruining the top. The Tee was the first of your patterns that I have tried and have been really impressed with it. Your pattern is great to work with and will be used quite a bit by me. Thank you also for the "gift" of this free pattern to all sewers.
