There are a couple of knit jacket patterns in the Big 4 books. Also saw one in the Kiwk Sew book.
I was thinking of making one then reality set in and I put the thougth aside for now. I have a "number" of UFO's that I have promised myself I will finish before I allow myself to start on something new. ------ Ada

Date: 10/6/12 10:24 AM Are you going to do the leather parts in leather/faux leather? That would be awesome...also I think the sleeves are designed for a fabric with more "body" and less stretch than ponte

1 member likes this. Date: 10/6/12 6:20 PM I have a RTW jacket just like that in ponte from *years* ago--yikes, probably 10. It was made by Van Heusen, way back before anybody ever heard of ponte knit. It was a fantastic piece, and I wore it into the ground. (It was actually part of a suit, believe it or not, and I seriously wore both pieces to death.)
I'm not sure what my point is, really, except that I had one, so I think your idea is perfectly sound, and that you will love it. And should maybe also make some pants to match. :D ------ ~Gem in the prairie |

Date: 10/6/12 9:47 PM See, pretty much all I wear in the winter is a heavy ponte knit pant. So I was thinking that if I made that in a black ponte knit, I'd have a suit. Great minds think alike, right?
So, I traced the pattern out tonight. My very first Burda pattern tracing! Woot! I think I'm going to have re-do some pieces because I didn't put in the right marks, but we'll see. |

Date: 10/6/12 9:48 PM I picked up some cheap pseudo-leather at Jo-Ann's tonight to do a first try. I want to do the whole thing in that, and then if it works out, I'll do one in ponte knit. I know what you mean about the sleeves, but I despise jackets that don't let me move my shoulders. :( |

Date: 10/6/12 11:07 PM I purchased this pattern as soon as it was available on Burda Style.com and downloaded and printed it. It's on the To Do list. I don't want to do in leather. They recommend loden as one of the fabrics, which I think is a wool, but can't find it anywhere. I can't wait to see Courtney's jacket. ------ Charlene |

Date: 10/7/12 1:13 PM The good news is that only the front sleeve piece is leather...at least on the original
