Do you ever still use that collar turning clamp tool? I purchased one, and I do like it. But this also looks like an excellent way too -- thanks for linking to it!

I have used something similar for turning very small shapes (decorative pieces) on a blouse I made the summer before last and it worked very well. The way I did it was to sew up to the point finishing with very small stitches, and passing the thread tails inside the shape, then sew over where I'd already stitched and continue with the rest of the shape. It wasn't quite as clever because I had to clip off the threads outside - this didn't show in the finished piece.
