Hello,

I would like to hear your opinion on this 2 machines.

I know the 15 91 is a straightstich, and very reliable machine. Good with all fabrics, including thick ones like denim and leather.

I also know that the 411G is a good machine. It has many different stitches. What about fabrics? Is it also good with denim and leather? Is it as trust worthy as the 15 91?.

Thanks

I wouldn't sew leather with a 411, and would go easy on the denim. It is a slant shank machine, as opposed to the 15-91's straight shank, and will not work as well on heavy fabrics. The slant needle has a tendency to deflect and strike the stitch plate when asked to sew heavier fabrics that it was intended.

However, both machines are designed ONLY for household sewing, so I wouldn't expect to sew circus tents with either. Many of us find vertical hooks, such as the 15's to be more forgiving when sewing with odd threads, or doing free motion work. The 411 definitely has more utility/decorative stitches, which many people find very useful. Also, many find drop-in bobbins easier to handle (except for use vertical hook folks...).

So, carefully examine your wants and sewing habits, and decide what is most important to you, because you will likely never find EVERYTHING in one machine. (That's my motto, and partially explains why I have over 50 sewing machines....)
