Stretch Bengaline & Washing/Drying

It seems to have the same fiber content (Poly, Rayon, Spandex) as the stuff suggested by Style Arc and has the same lengthwise stretch. My problem is the CARE of this fabric. My husband FRIED 2 pairs in a too hot dryer and now they are stiff and very hard to iron. The other pairs that were not fried also seem to wrinkle and are difficult to iron hot enough to remove the wrinkles yet not scorch. Anyone have the secret to caring for this fabric? To pretreat I machine wash and dry in the dryer. After this I always machine wash and line dry. I iron with a moderate iron (wool setting) and a teflon shoe on my iron although the fabrics I have barely wrinkle so only need a light press. -- Edited on 10/18/12 3:10 AM -- ------ Belinda. I use Kwik Sew 3454- the flare version and cut a size larger. It makes for a comfy, decent looking pant without a lot of fiddling with a closure etc. Downside-no pockets But oh well. Do you think this would be a good choice for that pattern? The fabric recommendations on the back of the envelope include just about everything you'd think of to make a jacket out of. I do know I need to cut out the pattern so the stretch, which is on the lengthwise grain, goes around the body. ------ Judy

I stay away from it. The care required isn't worth it to me, and I don't find it to be comfortable at all. ------ susi

I stay away from it. The care required isn't worth it to me, Are you talking about Bengaline or Stretch Bengaline? I find Stretch Bengaline to be so easy to wash 'n' wear. Kind of like polyester fabrics, but much nicer to wear because it breathes. Toss it in the washing machine, hang to dry and it's good to wear.
