Date: 10/20/12 12:28 PM I'm looking for a nice quality rib knit for collar, cuffs and hem band.
Fabric.com doesn't look like they have anything suitable currently.
I did find some at the RainShed, but at $36.00 a yard, that's out of my price range!
I do remember seeing packs of them premade years ago. Are these still in existance? Has anyone used them?
I'll be making Burda 7210, view A out of a alligator print home dec faux leather/suede fabric.

Date: 10/21/12 0:34 AM You might check Martha Pullen online store, although there appears to be a limited color selection. I haven't seen the ribbing, but the matching knit fabric I saw was wonderful. At about $14/yd, at least it is less expensive. |

Date: 11/12/12 5:54 PM In case it's not too late, EOS recently posted this sweater ribbing.
She had also posted some other sweater ribbing before that, but it seems to have sold out.
Note that you can buy as little as 1/2 yard. I did :) -- Edited on 11/12/12 5:55 PM -- ------ Twitter: @SewKnitStash |

Date: 11/12/12 10:03 PM Another store to check is Seattle Fabrics, a store similar to RainShed.
If you can't find ribbing, look for a rib knit fabric with a little lycra, it works great as a ribbing substitute. I starting using it when true ribbing became scarce and in limited colors. Beleive it or not the rib knit a Joanns that's cotton and lycra works really well. I buy it in remnants and small yardages for my ribbing stash.I sew for 7 grand kids and use alot of ribbing. ------ My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 10, and I've been sewing ever since. |

1 member likes this. Date: 11/12/12 11:27 PM Thank you all for the further options. I've got some leftover 4 way knit and was considering ribbing it myself..What I found at Seattle fabrics wasn't much less than the original find. I'll take another look at J's when I'm next there....and the Quilt/Craft/Sew show is at Puyallup this weekend...maybe they'll have something or some ideas. ------ 2009-113.25 yds

Date: 11/13/12 7:33 AM Fabric.com has lots of Baby Knit ribbing recommended for cuffs. Right now Code "SewSorry" gives you 20% off!
I sew for GK's where the ribbing doesn't have to be costly or last years. You can find clearance leggings from places like Target in bright colors or prints for colorful ribbing. If you have nice thrift stores, barely-worn men's golf shirts also give you strong ribbing from collar and cuffs. -- Edited on 11/13/12 9:35 AM -- |
