Date: 10/20/12 6:59 PM Well the discount wasn't showing up in the cart upon checking out so I purchased the Membership by itself .
Then I went back and bought the classes and discount was applied. |

Date: 10/23/12 4:43 PM Yes it needs to be fixed.
I had to buy the membership first by itself then after that I bought the classes and discount was applied. So I had to make 2 transactions instead of one to get the discount.
If someone is buying the membership and other items at the same time the discount doesn't show up at all.

Date: 11/18/12 2:17 PM That didn't even work for me. I bought the membership.
I tried to buy the Fun with Fitting class and video. No discount was offered. I didn't finish the transaction since the next option was the charge my credit card.
Now what? I want the class and I paid for the membership to get discounts on stuff like classes and patterns. Is there a time period one must wait for this to apply?
I logged out and logged back in after buying the discount (which I did about 20 minutes ahead of trying to buy the class) in hopes that this would fix the matter. No dice.
It worked for others (buying the membership separately) but not for me.
Hoping this gets sorted before the class closes.

If it's one that's already discounted maybe it doesn't apply.Depends upon how PR has it set up.
I think you should get the discount ..goodluck ! |

Date: 11/18/12 2:27 PM The Fun with Fitting. It's discounted, but the membership perks bit says "10% DISCOUNT on Sewing Patterns, Sewing Classes, Sewing Books & CDs sold on PatternReview.com," and there is no "except for classes already discounted." If that is the case, it should be spelled out, I would think.
Plus the video bit isn't discounted, so that should have received the 10% discount.
This is all assuming I read everything properly. |

Fun with Fitting - BODICE w Darts Online Class 1 $27.00
The discount is not on video -only the class fee. And it shows that when you see the items in your shopping cart.
The regular class fee for this class is $75 but we are doing the anniversary special this month ($27 for FoPR members, $29.99 for Free members).

I just joined a month ago and paid full price ($49.00) for several classes and got a 10% discount for being a FoPR which is way less than the current discount.
Then I bought the videos in addition to payng for the class.
Now the classes are $27 for new members and I just joined a month ago. I also ended up buying one of these $27 classes a few days ago but I refuse to buy anymore .
Some places honor such discounts within 30 days of your original purchase but what can you do..It's all timing and I lost..LOL
I won't be renewing my membership .
PS: I have to say the classes are great.

That wasn't at all obvious from the class description. It merely said "Class fee: $27.00" and gave the normal rate afterwards. There was nothing on the class listing to indicate that there was any other class rate; my impression when reading it was that in honor of the anniversary, and that was the price for anyone.
As for the video, is it not part of *a* class?
Given that the class fee is so reasonable, I'm not totally dissatisfied, but as a consumer, you should be aware that the wording is imprecise and misleading and really should be amended. Ditto for the reason for the lack of a 10% discount.
All that needed to be said was "$27.00 is the discounted price from the usual price of $75.00 and no other discount will apply," as well as "videos are not considered classes and are ineligible for a discount (odd that, as the 10% seems to cover the rest of the stuff offered - patterns, etc.)
(I know, I'm a bit of a pain, but I write for a living and imprecision with words just kills me.)
Rainer, I feel your pain. I joined up, what, 3 days ago? Thought I'd get the 10% on top of what was listed which would have been $5.70, helping to pay for almost 1/3 of the half-yearly subscription. And to add insult to injury, I got the cheaper half-year membership only to have the full year membership go cheap for Black Friday. Had I waited 3 days, I'd have had a year's membership for only $3.49 more than I paid for a half year's. I hate Black Friday, LOL! I was gnashing my teeth when I got the email last night announcing the sale.
But I didn't want to chance the class filling up that I wanted to take. That's the way it goes sometimes.
