Hi. I am a beginner. I took sewing classes that had different types of Brothers and Singer machines (a few others as well but I only used the others once). I hated the Singers with a passion. I've never had so much issues sewing a straight line. They kept jamming. The Brother machines on the other hand were a smooth ride for me and the only problems I had was with me forgetting to put the petal down or tension. I've have been looking at sewing machines and came across Baby Lock.

I am interested in the Baby Lock BL9, which seems like an older machine based on post from 08 online. A sewing store is selling it for $139 with a case. Do you think that I can get them to go down to about $100 without the case because I doubt my machine will ever leave my house. I will be going there to test it out on Thursday because I have never used it before.

Thanks in advance for the help

Sorry I can't help with that particular model, but I just wanted to say I have a BL sewing machine and serger and they have been nothing but workhorses...reliable and consistent. Good luck in your search.

I was on the BL site yesterday and hit the Promotion link. It shows that model on sale at dealers for $99 until Dec 2012. You might want to go back and ask.

Thank you so much this is just what I was looking for. It's right in my range for a first sewing machine. I may have my aunt get it for me as a Christmas gift since it's reasonably priced.
