I am making a Colette Partait and I want to line the bodice and eliminate the facings. My question is this for those that are familiar with this pattern: I only cut one midriff front and back from shell fabric since I will be lining. The instructions call for you to cut 2 each of those pieces and use 1 as a lining. The lining piece is interfaced. What is the purpose of interfacing this piece? Should I do it to the shell instead or just skip it all together? Thanks!

I have the pattern but haven't made it. I suspect the interfacing is used to support the zipper, the button, and buttonholes and add body for the strap connections.
