Hi,

I'm making Butterick 5485. My back skirt came out 1" to big in the back since I made the midriff back piece 1" smaller. Is it best to make up the difference in two 1/2 darts?

Thanks
Donna

So you think you need the room in the back? If so, do the darts. Put them in the place to point to the widest part of your backside. If you don't think you need that room or you want the smoother look like the original pattern, then I would take out the extra at the straightest edge which in this case is the cb seam. There isn't a right or wrong answer to this-you could do either.

I ended up putting 1/2" to each back side seam and blending down into the side seam. I didn't use the CB seam, since the zipper was 22"long.
