I made this witch costume for my youngest, and it came out GREAT. All the fabrics are from Joann's - the dress is black velvet, the cape is this flocked taffeta with spiderweb print. The issue is that the taffeta is stiff (looks fine, especially with the jagged hem, which gives it some movement) and slippery underneath. As my daughter moves her arms and walks around, the cape gradually swivels around until it's backwards! So annoying. I'd love a clever easy-on/easy off solution to fixing this. I already thought of just safety pinning it somewhere or using fashion tape (double sided tape in a pinch?) but there must be a better way.

I always have Hollywood Fashion Tape on hand. It's so super easy to use and that cape will not budge until you take it off.

Great - looks like Joann's stocks it - will have to swing by before Halloween. :)

If the tape doesn't work (not sure how it will interact with the taffeta), you can also just do a few hand stitches at the shoulder seams. They shouldn't show in the cape because of its flocked pattern. Have your daughter put on the costume so you get the cape placement right, pin it in place at the shoulder seams, and just do a few stitches. This won't interfere with the flow of the cape.

You know, I wonder if I should do that anyway - the cape could be permanently attached and it really shouldn't affect the stretchy neckline. Hm. Interesting.

I did pick up some fashion tape from Joann's - the cheaper version to Hollywood tape (which they also had, but more $$. I'll see if it works first.

Can't wait to post pictures of my little trick-or-treaters - my other gal is going to be a clown. :)
