Does anyone know how to adjust the needle position (left or right) on a Pfaff Ambition 1.0?

I did not see this covered in the instruction manual. The brochures advertise 29 needle positions, but I can't find them. What am I missing?

HI, I don't have your machine, but a lot of machines can change the needle position by using the width button on the straight stitch. First, set your machine to stitch the straight stitch, then tap the button for the width. As you keep taping the width button, you will see the needle move.

It's one of the three buttons to the left of the round button with the checkmark in the center, I think the top one.

Yes, that was the button. The top one is the width button, and on the straight stitch does move the needle.

Thanks!

You're welcome! I hope you're enjoying your Ambition! I used to have the Ambition 1.0 and it's a great machine.

That's a shame- what if you want to use a bladed foot to precisely position a zigzag stitch?

It's a safety thing... unless you're talking a 2.5mm wide zig zag (tiny), if the ability were there to de-center the needle, the needle could hit the foot and send needle pieces into orbit and possibly cause damage to the machine.

But more than that ... the swing of the needle only goes so far.

For placing the zig zag at a distance from another marker (edge of fabric, hem, another row of stitching, whatever), that could be done with a foot that has a wide guide on it... or by using a quilting foot that has lots of measuring lines on it.

the creative performance does this

Quote:
It is possible to change the needle position of all stitches that are less than 9 mm wide. Touch the width/position toggle (11) icon to toggle between stitch width and stitch positioning. The stitch position can only be changed to the limit of the maximum stitch width. Changing the stitch position will also limit the stitch width adjustment.

Alas, it doesn't look like the ambition can.
