Date: 10/28/12 6:55 PM Okay, it may be because I'm so used to my vintage machine, but I just started really playing with my new Juki HZL-K85. It sews really well, but I can hear the plastic bobbin turning or moving in the case. I used to hear this on my Elna 3007, too. Is there something I can do about it? Or is that just the nature of top loading plastic bobbins? ------ http://sewtarot.blogspot.com/

Date: 10/28/12 9:17 PM there are plastic washers that help bobbin noise. It seems that they unwind to fast.
they look like this.

You can get them off of ebay or in nancy notions.
they are called Little Genie Magic Bobbin Washers.

Date: 10/30/12 9:12 AM Is the tension on your bobbin case just a little too tight?
I had this problem with my designer SE but I got rid of the noise by turning the screw on the bobbin case to loosen the tension just a little.
Another problem could be that you don't place the bobbin into the machine with the thread coming off in the right direction (it should be written in the manual) or it could be that the bobbin isn't wounded evenly. I find my bobbins wind better if I cross the thread over the thread tension guide when winding it.

Date: 11/1/12 8:04 AM After a little drop of tri flow, and some adjustments, the bobbin case is now not rattling anymore. The machine sews wonderfully. It is very powerful, and I have been playing with the decorative stitches. I haven't tried the buttonholes yet, but so far, I am very pleased with what I got for the $ I spent. Once I have had more time with him, I'll post a review. ------ http://sewtarot.blogspot.com/

Date: 11/1/12 12:00 PM Do you know if these washers help stabilize the bobbin? I have found that my top-load bobbins often get jammed, especially when they are not full. Thank you! |

Date: 11/1/12 8:01 PM I did order some, but they haven't come in yet. I'll let you know how they work. It seems that while my machine was in shipping process, the bobbin case got turned a little too much the wrong way. Once I realized it, and took it out, used a little tri flow, and put the case back in the right way, the noise reduced greatly. When these come in, I'll put one in to see if that reduces the noise the rest of the way. ------ http://sewtarot.blogspot.com/
