Juki Long Arm

My LQS long arm dealer told me today that Juki is introducing a home long arm machine next month. It will have an 18 inch throat, but will have a higher arm than most long arms so more room to roll the quilt. My dealer thinks it will be exceptional and at 7999$ will be a better price than most machines. Does anyone know anything about this machine? I've been looking at long arms for quite a while, but don't want to overlook this one if it is all that my dealer thinks it will be. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

I'm not familiar with the Juki brand and this is the first I've heard of this machine. Since it won't be released until next month, there aren't reviews out, but from what I can tell it sounds like the Juki brand is good overall. I've been looking at the Pfaff/Viking PowerQuilter 3 and the Babylock Crown Jewel. I like both and have local dealers for both, but from what the dealer yesterday was saying (he also sells Pfaff/Viking), the Juki will be superior to the others I've been considering. I do like the extra take up bar in the back to keep the bulk out of the quilting area and the lighting sounds really nice. It's a lot of money so I really want to know that I'm getting the best machine if I actually decide to take the plunge!

I already posted a note on the Juki thread. 8000 is big bucks. but you have to compare what a similar machine would cost.. If I were buying any long arm in which I wanted industrial quality I would certainly buy one manufactured by Juki. But I have to wonder if their industrial models are more reasonably priced ..

Good to hear that Juki has a good reputation!

I prob would not buy a Pfaff/viking or babylock long machine as the dealer wont have the support ability long term that the orig brand provider would. My 2 cents. ------ Drag queen quilter!

PortlandMaine   Advanced Beginner ME USA Member since 1/29/11 Posts: 1669	Login to reply to this post Like this post Date: 10/31/12 4:34 PM What I mean is - Pfaff came out with the 18.8 and now they are on to the newer one -- I dont think many dealers will have had time to really learn about the 18.8 and now they are onto the new p3. Lots of dealers have a hard time keeping up with how to work the computerized machines they have in stock let alone how to work a computerized long arm. Sure - If the dealer is a long armer or sells other long arms I think it would be a diff story. But, the Pfaffs and babylock long-arms are just re-branded bigger brands - like my Grand Quilter -- I find the janome dealer knows more about the machine than the Pfaff dealer does. And, now that Pfaff does not sell a Grand Quilter they dont really know as much about them as the Janome dealer does because they still are selling them. ------ Drag queen quilter!
