I'm trying to put together which three patterns I want to order in my first order. After looking at the reviews of this pattern I realized that this top doesn't have as large a fall in the cowl neckline as I was looking for. =( I like the height of the neckline and wouldn't want it to be any deeper but I was hoping for drape of the cowl to fall deeper. Does that make sense? Do you think it would be easily modified to achieve this? Thoughts on how one would approach this sort of alteration?

The other front runners include the Creative Cate and the Cate's Cousin. I love the drape of the neckline, but the problem I have is that I need full sleeves. Cate's Cousin does come with full sleeves, but that dropped shoulder looks really low. I've never had a top with a sleeve like that and I'm concerned about how that's going to look. Any thoughts on that? I'd love a top like this with a normal shoulder/sleeve...

My DD likes the Laura dress too, but the seam detail looks pretty straight forward. I think I could use our TNT knit dress patter and achieve a very similar look. Is there anything specific/special about the Laura pattern that would cause you to encourage me to go ahead and get that one (admittedly the fall of the skirt portion is a bit different from the pattern I've developed).

TIA for you thoughts and insights. I appreciate them! =)

I've made the Amy top and widened the cowl a bit (about an inch), but that was the whole way round, not just the front. It was fine for me.

I would suggest that you email Chloe with your questions, she is very prompt in replying, and does her best to provide a solution. Her customer service is second to none-as an example, I emailed on a Sunday evening with a query about fabric requirements for single width Harris tweed for the Jacqui coat and had a reply showing two layouts & the fabric requirements by morning tea time on Monday.

Well, check out the estimable Sew4Fun's morph that provides a normal sleeve and shoulder.

Thanks Elona, that was really helpful! =)

As an aside, DH just brought in the mail, and with it my My Image magazines that I ordered last week. As I was flipping through I realized I had ordered one of them specifically for the draped neck top that one of them contained, which effectively narrows down the candidates for my order from Style Arc. I will give the My Image top a try for now before going through all the work to modify the Style Arc pattern. =)

Thanks again! =)
