Date: 11/1/12 5:32 PM I purchased some sweater knits a couple years ago from Fabric.com (among other sources). One is a ribbed wool blend knit in camel. I'm afraid it will be too boring in a plain t-neck--too bulky at the neck too. Any ideas? I saw this sweater with zippers but am not sold on it either but at least it has SOME style. Help! I have to sew something before all my fabric rots! Also, any tips on sewing such a fabric is appreciated. I do have Connie Long's book which I will be reviewing before I sew.

Date: 11/1/12 5:44 PM I did a twin set in a similar knit here. You could make any number of cardis or sweater tops.
I recommend a walking foot for knits. |

Date: 11/1/12 6:09 PM If you can find Burda 7449, it's really cute if you rearrange/redraft it so that the pockets sit on the front rather than the sides.
The neckline is also low enough that you have to wear something under it, so you can put a brighter color near your face, if that's a concern. |

Date: 11/2/12 9:48 AM The Style Arc Ella cardigan is a very simple pattern that would work with any sort of sweater knit. You can use a contrasting fabric for the frill and attach a clasp in the front for shaping if your knit is on the thick side.

Date: 11/2/12 10:23 AM This new Vogue 8854 might interest you. Says it's suitable for sweater knits. The view with the higher neckline is similar to your idea.
I've never tried sweater knits but just bought some to try making the hoodie. Bought the pattern during the sale they just had. I'lll make mine the same length all around as I don't care for the longer in back style. ------ Thank you Lord for my Mother who taught me the joy of sewing. |
