Has anyone bought the "premium" broadcloth fabric.com sells for $3.98 yd?

https://www.fabric.com/quilting-fabric-quilt-backing-broadcloth-premium-broadcloth-fabric.aspx

I am looking for a quilting cotton to make a lot of quilt as you go bias binding strips, and also something that I can start playing with dyeing with. I am on a really strict budget right now.

I mostly want reassurance that it isn't pathetically thin, because I know you get what you pay for, but they actually have an even cheaper broadcloth, so this isn't the lowest it goes.

The other option is the Kaufman Kona Cotton, which I'm generally happy with- but I really need to save some money right now.

Thanks!

I'd stick with the Kona. Why? I purchased some "muslin" from them and thought it would be smooth and soft; much like sheets. It was about $4.00 a yard. I was very disappointed. I wanted to use it for drapery lining, and it's too stiff. It feels like ramie cotton; closer to a sack type of fabric.

Premium broadcloth is a nice fabric, a little heavier than lawn. Kona cotton is heavy at 4.3 oz. i have never tried to quilt with it! Have you thought of shopping for bed sheets to use as fabric? Can really save you $ and perfect weights are easy to find!

I have stayed away from bed sheets thus far, because I've been told they are very difficult to quilt through. Is it really cheaper? Sheets are so expensive!

I am now looking at the Kona Premium Muslin. Based on Kona cotton being called 'heavy', I think the premium broadcloth will be too thin for me. I think Kona cotton is a good weight for quilting fabric. It looks like the muslin is just a little bit thinner.

Any thoughts?
