I need some feedback. I'm attending a wedding tomorrow(Saturday). It starts at 5:00 p.m. I had planned to wear a nice light grey suit. I found out the Mother of the Bride is wearing Grey. Would it be a fashion crisis if I were to still wear my grey suit? My other choice would be a black suit, but I still can't get use to wearing black to weddings.

It sounds OK to me. A grey suit is a classic outfit. It would only be a problem if it were identical to what the MOB is wearing.

It's a custom-made designer original. I made it myself.

I would wear the grey, if you enjoy wearing it and will feel better. If MOB is wearing an identical grey suit, you might get congratulated on your daughter's wedding. LOL Otherwise, don't worry about it. You might not be the only other guest in grey.

Do you have a pretty scarf or shawl you could wear with your grey suit, just in case you and the other lady happen to resemble each other too much? The likelihood that she would also have a shawl identical to yours is tiny.

That was what I was thinking, a scarf could just make the outfit. It would set you apart from the MOB.

Thanks so much for responding and the suggestions. I found out the MOB is wearing a dress(It's a Kwik Sew pattern), so I think I'm safe

She will probably wear a somewhat fancy dress. I am old enough that I find the idea of wearing black to a wedding rather troublesome - I know I am old-fashioned, but you and I are of an age. I think a grey suit would be classic and lovely.

I wore a slightly sparkly dark blue dress at my daughter's wedding, and my co-mother-in-law wore a really pretty royal blue dress. To be totally honest I have no idea what anyone else wore at all, I would have to look at the pictures. I mostly only had eyes for the bride.

Barb - I would have to agree with that! I do remember my SIL's dress because she made it (she is one of my sewing heroes) and there is a photo of her peering down the front of it demonstrating a slight fit issue. Other than that I was watching DD to see how her dress was and hoping I had done a good enough job so that she was comfortable and looking fabulous all day, which I am pleased to say, she was.

The wedding was lovely and the suit was just right. I was shocked at how much black showed up and horrors of horrors, one lady walked in decked out in a white suit! I guess these days, anything goes

When my cousin got married, the mother of the groom wore a white dress to the wedding.

no, it wasn't part of the "theme" and my cousin wasn't expecting it. And yes, she did turn out to be the MIL from hell.
