pocket placement How to have matching patch pockets w/o marks showing?

If I'm doing a camp shirt or something with chest pockets, what is the best way to mark and get them placed so they line up and I don't have marks showing on the garment afterwards? I'm also doing a FBA which cuts up the front of the pattern piece.

Then gently peel back the pattern near your markings--without pulling out the pins--and use a chalk marking pencil, make little dots on the fabric right where the pin shaft meets the fabric. It's important to brush the chalk off before doing any pressing in the area, because heat can set some chalk. However, the classic, mark-free way to do this kind of thing is to use little loops of thread called thread tacks, as shown about a third of the way down the page. -- Edited on 11/3/12 1:36 PM --

Date: 11/3/12 3:09 PM I really like the markers that dissolve with water (although that won't work with silk). For dark colors, I bought a chalk sharpener and I use hotel soaps for marking, since that will always come out.

With the shirt fabric right side up, I place the pattern piece over it. Then I place the pocket pattern piece over the shirt pattern piece, and trace the design elements on the pocket pattern piece that show through from the print. ------ from Daytona Beach, FL http://mary-sews.blogspot.com/

I use a piece of heavy plastic (old thick shower curtain). Trace the pocket pattern, place the pocket pattern over the shirt where you want the pocket. Trace fabric elements on the plastic. Take traced pocket with elements and find the exact position on the rest of the fabric. You can then cut out the exact piece you need. Hope this helps. If you use a Sharpie, you can use alcohol to erase your elements for the next shirt. Hope this is clear.
