What are your plans? Cooking or going to friends/relatives? Restaurant? Not doing anything special? Any super must have recipes to share with everyone? Any special thanksgiving day traditions?

For us, all of our kids are grown and gone. They usually spend thanksgiving with their assorted inlaws. Hubby and I always end up inviting over a few single and married friends that have no family in town and no other plans of their own. There are usually about 8 to 10 of us for dinner.

On our menu this year is bacon wrapped smoked turkey breast, stuffing, mashed tatoes and gravy, savory baked sweet potatoes, broccoli casserole, cranberry sauce and rolls. If no one offers to bring dessert and/or wine, then I will handle that myself too.

Thanksgiving by tradition is the day we light up our Christmas display outside and of course the Christmas tree (artificial) inside.

Our Thanksgiving will be low key just the three of us. I will make the usual, a turkey breast, stuffing, mac and cheese, veggies, potatoes and will try and make a diabetic friendly dessert. I have off the whole week, the one time I could really have the time to go crazy with homemade stuff no reason too as no one would eat it.

Usually 3 of the 4 children make it to my parents' farm for Thanksgiving, with one spouse for good measure. This year will be a challenge for me because I can't eat gluten anymore - which means no bread or stuffing or packaged soups in the traditional favorites.

Measure twice, cut once. While this saying is useful in many ways, I have no qualms about editing my posts.

Right now, it looks like it will be me and my daughter, maybe my mom, and then we'll go see my dad ( who will hopefully be in rehab by then). Very, very quiet, but I can live with that.

This year our thanksgiving will be only us me and my husband so far. I don't know about my son and his family. New's years will be the gathering time. My daughter will be home for 1 week.

We have property where we hunt. Everyone My kids and grandsons, sister and her daughters and brother and SIL and their 4 sons and anyone one that may not have a place to go is welcome. I fix Turkey, dressing, acre peas, sweet potatoe casserole, greens, broccoli salad, corbread salad, ribs, fruit cake, and several other sweets. Others bring dishes as well. We have everything outside. After lunch some pick and sing, some hunt, some just sit and visit!

We are getting invaded for the week with out of town daughter, spouse and 2 granddogs so the house will come alive once again. We will have a bigger thanksgiving with another daughter's family included. I have already started doing some cooking ahead for the freezer so the week and T day will be easier. I guess all sewing is on hold as I have a lot of cleaning and am planning to get the tree (artificial) up and decorated. We will have all the traditional stuff and more. My dh is one who loves fruitcake and I made one for him since I didn't last year and he complained about that and it will keep him out of the sweets I am making ahead. I have the dry part of my dressing done and in ziploks frozen, deboned a chicken and froze the broth so the worst of that is out of the way. I am trying to get some stuff done ahead so I can enjoy the visit. I am still going through cook books and also trying to make a few things that picky sil will eat while here -no easy feat as he has a lot of dos and dont's on the traditional foods. I'm really glad my daughter has to figure that out and not me most of the year. Anyway I am trying to get a lot done for the holiday and sewing ideas are on hold for the moment so I may as well get with the program.
