I love to take picutres, mostly of wildlife. Ivolunteer one day a week at the St. Mark's Wildfile Refuge, this is one of the pics! Thanks for looking!

Oh, my. That is a spectacular picture. You should submit it to a wildlife magazine. We go to SC for the winter. The alligators are usually under the mud in the lagoons until mid-February. We see lots of turtles and alligators co-existing at this time, even to the point of seeing the turtles on the backs of the alligators. The alligators are so sluggish after hibernating for a few months that they leave the turtles alone. I imagine that they attack after the weather warms up a bit and they wake up fully.

I'm going to send your picture to my grandchildren. I take lots of alligator pictures, but they are always docile! Thanks for sharing.

I'm sure the turtle is fine. As everyone knows, alligators are unable to hug due their very short front legs. But being extremely loving and gentle creatures, they need physical affection. What you see here is surely a gentle embrace, a mouth hug.

Haha, I was thinking something along similar lines: that the gator was protecting the turtle from the sun :)

That must be like an M&M candy to an alligator. Crunchy outside, yummy inside.

(Poor turtle.)

Good one Al. I can't laugh out loud as I have a pet turtle about 2 feet from me who looks just like this. She would not be amused!
