Which machine is better? The Singer Signature or the Singer 9960?

Thanks.

I don't have either...I've heard so much about that lovely 9960, I want one, though! The Signature seems to be quite new? That's what I gleaned from looking at Singer's site. And there was only 1 review so far for it. Here are the specs for the Signature. Here are the specs for the 9960.

Of course there's a price difference; with the 9960 being higher. It has about double the number of stitches; it has 5 alphabets versus 2 in the Signature; it has more buttonholes. So those are some of the differences I noticed right away. So it would definitely depend on what you needed; but also on the machine. I wish I could have found more reviews for you. Maybe someone else will.

I have the 9960 which I love love love! However one thing I don't like is that it can't remember stitch patterns after you turn the machine off. Based on the specs I believe the other sm does have this ability. Good luck choosing!

Hands down the 9960, I LOVE mine! Amazon has the best price with free shipping! They also have no hassle returns if you don't like the machine or if you get a dud. They'll exchange it for another right away if you do get a dud. It happens.

Best, Ani

I own the 9960 also and think it's a great machine. The deal that Amazon has is better than what I paid, however I still feel I got a great machine for the $$. As a bonus, all the extra feet it came with work on my L-500.
I don't know anything about the other machine, sorry.

I have the Singer Signature since August and I really like it. Wasn't sure about it, with Singer's current rep, but it works very well. I've been sewing a lot lately and it's all on the Signature. I don't think it's worth the msrp of $600!!! But I got it for $380 on HSN and I'm quite pleased with it. Lots of decorative stitches, and good basics. I really haven't had any problems with it. It's a good beginner/intermediate machine in my opinion. And at the price it I got it at, it has a lot of bang for the buck. I just took a peek the 9960's manual, it has more decorative stitches and alphabets then the Signature, otherwise it seems quite similar. If they are similar machines, then choose whichever matches your budget and needs better, either one should make you happy.

I have the singer 9940 and i am thinking about ordering the 9960. I love my 9940 and I just ordered a serger so it will be a while on another sewing machine.

That's interesting, thanks for posting. No one's posted how long their Singer machine has lasted.

Oh dear, you certainly have been through a lot of sewing (mis) adventures. But I am so glad you did have that insurance and can get the new machine you want now! I hope all goes smoothly and you have many happy, quiet days with your new sewing machine!
