What type of fabric is that tuck between the facing and lining of my raincoat And can I buy a reasonable facsimile at fabric.com

The base fabric is RL rain coating from fabric mart. There is some trim using a Riley Blake print. A while back I bought a bolt of bemberg in cream so that was my plan for the lining. Then I looked at my lands end raincoat and it has a bit of trim tucked in between the lining and facing. Any idea what type of fabric this might be or suggestions for what might work? Is it correct that the tuck is purely decorative? Thanks ... ------ Too much fabric to count...

It could just be a decorative detail; I've seen that in jackets and coats. You can make your own piping or buy it pre-made to insert, although if you're using a raincoating you might want to also use something water-resistant for the piping? ------ I've moved! The coat and lining is black with a dark purple piping. At least, I have always called it piping. I think I saw somewhere that it was called flat piping (no cord). I do like the look and think the fabric could be anything that entertains you I make mine 2" wide, fold in half and put in the seam like I would corded piping -- Edited on 11/13/12 9:05 AM --

Date: 11/13/12 10:45 AM It's the same idea as piping, a decorative bias strip inserted between the layers, just without the cord inside.
