Date: 11/13/12 4:57 PM I am trying to decide between the Janome models Dc2012 or DC5100 or the dc3050. THe differences are very minimal. I fell in love with the dc2012 for the color (lol). None of them have a start and stop, which I could live without. I think I would rather have the extra stitches if I am going to start quilting baby blankets and home decor. Very confusing. The 2012 has a little heart stitch, but with 4 boys the letters could be great on the 5100 and I think there is a heart stitch..it didn't totally look like the 2012 it was a single stitch. THe 5100 is 100$ more BUT it seems more grow into with the memory stitch function. Does anyone have any experience with these machines?
Thanks for the input in advance! Do you think with black friday and cyber monday any of these models really go on sale? I told my dh I seriously doubted it!

Date: 11/13/12 5:24 PM I have the DC 3050, it is a really great machine, I have had no issues. I thought it was a little small for quilting, although I have only quilted once. I make primarily apparell. I think you shoudl get the one that suits your needs, it the one you want is just an extra $100 and it is feasible I say get that one. Get the most expensive machine you can afford. |

Date: 11/13/12 6:30 PM Thanks for replying! The 3050 is in my sewing book I borrowed from the library! You know it's so hard to figure out if the 5100 is a step up from the 2012! just because it has more fancy stitches doesn't mean it's as good! That said the 3050 and the 2012 are very similar too! I needed the walking foot for diaper making which is why I was going with the 2012..BUT they I got seduced by all the extra stitches on the 5100! Esp the alphabet stitches! I am going to order one of these off of amazon I think. I was going to go to my dealer, but he looked at me like I was crazy when I mentioned classes... Still debating...I just want a solid machine that will last... :)
