Why?
Mom HATES cutting fabric. But she'll happily quilt and bind all day long.
Now, I cut her quilt pieces. " Cut those leaves for needle turn, please."
Just wondering if there is a part of the process you don't enjoy or a step you especially do like?

Date: 11/15/12 11:33 AM Choosing fabric is my least favorite* .
Sewing with a friend (daughters and sons qualify) makes the entire process more enjoyable.
* I just spent two weeks sorting and pressing scraps by color and putting them into plastic totes. One more room to go!
At the price of totes (today and in the future), they may end up being more valuable than the contents!
Enjoy your time with your mother. It is precious.

Actually I do enjoy sewing more when I mix the steps up a bit. I find that doing just ONE thing for an extended amount of time gets tedious.
I do not like putting the binding pieces together either. By that time I am usually so over that quilt and ready to start the next one!
And I agree with Patti- enjoy the time with your Mom. It IS precious. ------ Cathryn |

Date: 11/15/12 12:29 PM I actually like the cutting part. My favorite part is the planning stage and often I never get past that. Too many good ideas and not much fabric to work with. I only have a small amount of stash. ------ Quilting is relaxing to me. I love to play with fabrics, patterns and colors.

I got very lucky this last week and a friend of mine spent a bunch of time helping my go through all of my fabrics and working on the iron - I loved the time with a friend at my house. Doesn't happen often.
I love the time I get to spend quilting. I love the sound of the machine - the fabrics - everything.
I dont know if there is anything I dont like -- I dont like it when I shred thread --
Wait! I thought of something.
I HATE ripping out mistakes -- I get all huffy when I have to do that. ------ Drag queen quilter! |

I HATE ripping out mistakes -- I get all huffy when I have to do that. Oh yes! Now that you brought it up I also HATE!!! ripping out mistakes!!
On the first rag quilt I made for project Linus I put one whole row on upside down. I could NOT figure out why the next row was not working out, and when I realized I had to rip out ALL those stitches for an entire row, I was...umm....less than pleased ------ Cathryn |

Date: 11/15/12 2:06 PM definitely the binding. I hate everything about it and when ever possible I do inside out quilts (when you sew rights sides together but leave a space open, lay the batting down and turn it right side out) so I don't have to do it. ------ quiltingwolf.blogspot.com |
