Button hole placket flips up! Help needed to keep placket flat

However, thr buttonhole placket doesn't want to lie flat at the very bottom.I have tried pressing, and it may fix itself after wash and wear etc, but I have noticed this issue on another shirt I made. Is this a common problem, is there a fix? Thanks for any help.

I used iron on interfacing and never preshrink it, is this something I should be doung? The other placket ( for the buttons) does not flip up though.

If you have stitched more than once in this area it can tend to shrink the length a little bit. ------ Dawn T.

To preshrink loosely fold, glue side in if iron on, and submerge in warm to hot water for at least 20 minutes or until water cools down. Gently wring out excess water and hang to dry. A shower rod works great! I roll it up in a bath towel to get out more. If it's a knit interfacing you need to lay flat. Unshrunk interfacing may not necessarilly cause a problem during the construction but after the first wash is where you'll likely see problems. Ask me how I know!!!! Debbie

I always prewash / preshrink fabric but never thought about interfacing . It's a bit obvious now you mention it :) Another lesson learned!
