Date: 11/19/12 7:12 AM I tried to do a search about this and I found the few threads about the USA release disney embroidery cards. Am I correct in assuming that the Japanese cards such as the Rilakkuma, Shinkansen, and so on can not have the designs taken from the cards via PED basic to be put on one of the non-compatible brothers? Because some cards feature copyrighted characters and list specific machines I would think they too are copy-protected. Does someone have experience with the Japanese cards in foreign release machines or in PED basic?
It lists the cards as usable on:
innovis D300、ULT21、innovis N150、innovis M200、Snoopy Studio、
M-7100、D-8800、D-9000W、Festival、D-9700F、N9800、New M-7100、
Famille special、Century7000、New Rapice、D-8000、BR-9500、
M-7000、New Snoopy Studio,、innovis N80、innovis P100、
innovis P100α、innovis SN100、innovis SN100α、innovis K100、
innovis K100α、FM-4000、K-5000、P-5500、P-5000、rapice、mimollet、
Samantha,、mi mollet L,、Samantha L、passo 2、passo
I lived in Japan many years and have already one Japanese brother sewing machine but it's not an embroidery one so I could purchase one of these embroidery machines (if it fits in my budget ) but it would be easier to buy a USA machine as I am currently in the USA. |

Date: 11/19/12 12:34 PM I don't think you can remove or copy designs from a design card.

Date: 11/19/12 4:47 PM You can not copy designs off Brother cards at all. If you currently have foreign cards which were legitimately purchased overseas (there are TONS of black/grey market cards out there for sale) then I would contact Brother support and ask if they will work in any of the US machines. All older US cards will work in current Brother models so the foreign ones might also. Can't hurt to ask.
Here's the Brother customer service info:

Date: 11/20/12 9:27 AM The Japanese only cards like Hello Kitty that are only released in Japan do not work on machines sold in the US. There are a few 1990's era machines that I've heard read them, but generally they are made with a country code that renders them unusable here. I bought one and it has collected dust for probably at lleast ten years. :(

Maybe these are like the video cds that are coded by region. Never thought about this applying to machine embroidery cards. |
