I had to make a cover for my new Bernina 430, to match the rest of the covers I made for my sewing room. Lots of fun! I used my walking foot, ruffler foot, hemming foot, and my edgestitch foot.

Oh and a matching case for my reading glasses!

Wow, I came to the website to see if I could find anything on what material might be best for a sewing machine cover and there's this thread sitting at the top.

That is an amazing looking cover. Makes me imagine the machine underneath is all perky and happy and raring to sew!

Looks like cottons are ok. I had been wondering if they generated too much lint just sitting on top of the machine. I really need an improvement over the oversized plastic bag that currently passes for my machine cover.

Now I want to see see the other covers you mention.

thanks all! Cotton is fine, much better than plastic. These are quilted on soft and stable, which is like car headliner foam, and lined. You can see my other covers at the bottom of This page.

How fantastic! I just love them. Never thought of using headliner type support- I have only seen them in canvas. You should add that to PR Tip section.

Hi CJ.
I love that sewing machine cover. Did you use a pattern? I think if I made that cover for my sewing machines, they'd all be happy and then I might sew more.
I should be shot for sewing so seldom.
