Can you please tell me which brands of thread you prefer for your serger? I am new to serging and purchased a used BBL Evolution. Thank you for your suggestions!

Date: 11/20/12 9:15 AM I've been using primarily Maxi Lock in my Evolution. No problems, lots of colors and I can usually get the small cones from Wawak for $1.59 each. ------ Linda

1 member likes this. Date: 11/21/12 10:14 AM I use whatever is avalaible. Have bought from Joanne's, Hancocks, Nancy's Notions, dealer's- wherever. The beauty of my Evolution is its not fussy. I have used serger, sewing, jeans, wooly nylon, crown, etc- any type.
The worst is the cheapest and only because it leaves so much lint. If I am seeing lots of lint buildup in needle and feeddog area at the beginning of the project then I get pretty aggressive about cleaning it- I don't wait till the end. But there's no problem handling various threads. I'm kind of into cleaning lint & dust due to my asthma. ------ re-living my youth through sewing... |

1 member likes this. Date: 11/21/12 1:27 PM I recently traded my bb serger for the Evolution. It came with Madeira serger thread. To my surprise, it produces a lot of lint.
I've used Madeira embroidery thread with good results in my Ellissimo.
With the Evolve, I could use any thread I wanted. I'm new with the Evolution so I need to find out. |

Date: 11/29/12 5:04 PM Thanks for the input. I am so excited about my new machine! How great that it uses so many types of thread without a problem.
