I want sashing strips and the fabric I want to use is the striped one. (Look at the last tree on the 3 tree block).

BUT the stripes HAVE to be diagonal. I don't want them any other way, and the diagonal stripe is going to be the binding also.

Am I setting myself up for disaster trying to use bias strips??
Maybe if I SUPER starch them first?

Anyone have any ideas on how to make them work?

yes! I'll have to see what weight it is though.....

Just shuddered at the thought of having to apply interfacing to all the sashing, BUT that would work!

Oh, I thought you were just using a bit of it for an applique?

Never mind -- I went back and READ your post.

One time I interfaced an entire queen size blanket I wanted to save - it was very light and worn. -- It was worth it. I bet this would be, too!

Starching might help, or washaway or tear-away stabilizer. But with quilt cotton you might be OK, as long as you pin and are very careful not to stretch the sashing pieces (and your tension's not wonky). I would try it maybe with a small piece and see how it goes. Ironing interfacing on the back would be a bear if the pieces are already cut out, but not so bad if you could block fuse.

I'd suggest you use a light fusible to the whole fabric if you want diagonal lines. It will stretch, and even though you might want to use starch, it will still stretch a little. Fusible is the best way to ensure the fabric is going to behave.
