Know when to fold 'em looking for a fitting class near Moscow, ID

My tiny frame and huge boobs (thanks, kid) have defeated me. I have come as far as I'm going to with books, classes, and PR... I need someone to tell me what adjustments I need and show me how to do them - on ME. It's time to find a real-life teacher. Anyone know of a class/teacher near Moscow/Lewiston ID or Pullman/Clarkston, WA? If they don't have classes, they might have info as to workshops and such offered. Also, ASG chapters in the area. Also try the senior centers in the area...they might not have classes, but probably have a sewing group that may have someone able/willing to take students. There might be a Home Ec/Theatrical design area where you might be able to get some help. I know there is a quilt shop in Lewiston (which wasn't open at the time), someone there might know who sews clothes. If nothing else, The Grange is a great local restaurant!

You may be able to find something like that or they may be able to direct you to someone that does. You can also look for someone that does custom sewing and alterations. Explain what you want and they may help. Debbie

woole bully   Intermediate IN USA Member since 8/9/06 Posts: 42	Login to reply to this post In reply to idahodogs << Like this post Date: 11/27/12 8:23 AM i don't necessarily have the same fitting problems you have but....i have done this: i buy something that really fits me well. you may already have something in your closet. make a pattern from this. you can either take it apart or lay it down on top of some tracing paper. stick pins in along the seam lines. pick up the clothing, match the dots!

I know she teaches classes, quilting and garment sewing. She might be willing to do some custom fitting or private classes. Hope that helps and good luck. You'll be surprised how easy it is and you'll end up with garments that actually fit. The sloper you create can be used to see how out of whack the patterns you bought are.

It does get expensive, though, with tuition, hotel, food, travel.
