A bit of a tangent from the other e-reader thread. DH left his Android tablet (which I hated with a passion compared to my iPad) behind on a trip. I warned him that a black case would be extremely easy to lose and was I right? Did I say I-told-you-so? Well, not out loud.....

So he has bought a little Blackberry which is brilliant for his needs. He is a computer pro so he knows about Blackberry and how it may not have fancy apps, etc. His needs with this device are few, he loves the smaller size and a formerly $700 machine is now only $150. Again, I did not say (out loud) that the black cover and (of course) black neoprene pouch, not to mention the much smaller size will once again make it very easy to misplace. I would love to make him a small shoulder bag out of some ridiculously wild fabric so he doesn't lose it, but I have a feeling he wouldn't use it. Any ideas?

What about a really long biker wallet chain. Attach one end to him and the other to the device? I know it is really tacky, but it might be a fun gag gift for Christmas.

Something still masculine, but not black... IMO even dark brown or grey is more visible than those black neoprene cases so many are fond of. If he wears suits, I would suggest a medium-dark classy leather, and maybe something embroidered or appliqued on top.

For a more casual look, rough-finished denim, or a military-style like olive green or camo heavy twill?

Toned-down snakeskin print or fake snakeskin?

What I can suggest is a unique cover. There are many on Etsy that are made to fit these items, and are unique. The problem with DH's loss is that of black luggage at the airport..how many of us have black luggage?? Find him a cover that doesn't scream "You're stupid to lose me, so why should I be "normal"? and make him happy. Do a search for Kindles (I have made a few myself, just for that reason)

I think instead of a certain color, it would be a good thing if the case had some compartment for some other thing that he would *never* leave behind... maybe his phone ?!?!?

It would at least be a reminder.

Either that... or train the man to make a list in the notes section of his phone and double check that he's done everything / remembered everything on the list before checkin' out of a hotel, etc.

The only thing I've ever left behind in a hotel was a phone charger and some rechargeable batteries in a wall outlet one time. That was a bummer to replace, too.

I am not enough of a tech to explain this, but my daughter has my iPad and my husband's fixed up so that if either gets lost we can locate it.

We used this capability last year. We were in a limo in CA going to our son's house from LAX, when my husband said, "I left my iPad on the plane!"

I started trying to call the airline, etc. and then finally called my tech daughter, back home in PA. She said no problem, and told us the iPad was on highway 405. She changed the password remotely.

But then I realized that we were on 405 and then heard it ringing in my husband's luggage!

I'm not sure if he HAD left the iPad on the plane how this capability would have helped, but for just leaving it someplace you can go right back and get it, it is very helpful.
